In March 2022 we hosted a bracket contest for people to vote on the Greatest Philly Food. Czerw's pierogis was crowned the champion - beating John's Roast Pork in the final. Thanks to everyone who voted! This year we're back with a new bracket: Philly's favorite pizza!
Among US cities with over one million residents, nobody has more pizzerias per person than Philly. That's right; not New York, not Chicago. 27 pizzerias for every 1,000 people who live in the city. And while Philly gets pigeonholed as a cheesesteak town, we've got some DAMN GOOD pizza too. That became quickly apparent when we started creating these brackets. At first we thought we'd just go with 32 pies...but it quickly became apparent that we needed at least 48. And then, we thought, "Well we just opened our new store in Wayne, we should throw in Delco and the Main Line area too." That got us to 64...and quite frankly that was as many as we think the brackets can handle. So we're sorry, South Jersey! We know that there are some amazing places on the other side of the bridge like Brooklyn Original and Holy Tomato. And we're sorry, Bucks County! We know you've got places like DeLorenzo's and Spuntino's that are amazing.
But we're down to our 64 contenders, and we need YOU to decide who's going to be the true Pizza King of Philly. We've divided the regions into Center City, North, South, and West, with 16 from each region aiming for the Final Four.
