Hot off the press!  This new offset lithograph print from Charles Cushing's latest oil painting, "Diamond Dreams, Philadelphia" is a celebration of 150 years of Philadelphia baseball history.

The painting features Bryce Harper hitting his famous home run against the Padres in the 2023 NLCS. He is surrounded by 30+ Philadelphia baseball figures from the past 150 years. Starting from the vignette in the upper left-hand corner, that’s Robin Roberts on the mound. Below him to the left are announcers Richie ‘Whitey” Ashburn, Harry Kalas, and By Saam. Continuing counter-clockwise is Slim Jones of the Negro League Philadelphia Stars in the lower left corner vignette. Then come Gary Maddox (Phillies), Lefty Grove (Philadelphia A’s), Gene Benson (Philadelphia Stars), Eddie Collins (A’s), Ed Delahanty (Quakers/Phillies), Frank ‘Home Run” Baker (A’s), Grover Cleveland Alexander (Phillies), Mike Schmidt (Phillies), Dick Allen (during ‘Richie” Allen era, Phillies), Connie Mack (Manager, A’s), and Jimmy Foxx (A’s). Top right vignette is Steve Carlton, top center vignette depicts the entrance to Shibe Park with Benjamin Shibe (in bowler hat) to the left.

PLAYERS ON CARDS: From the top: Jim Bunning and Tug McGraw, Octavius Catto (black and white photo, founder of Philadelphia Pythians Club), card on it side is Michael Doolan (Phillies), Richie Allen (Phillies), to his left (black-bordered card) Tony Taylor (Phillies), beneath Allen is Chase Utley (Phillies), beneath Taylor is Chuck Klein (Phillies), to the left Jimmy Rollins (Phillies), below is Mickey Cochrane, next to him Andrews Philadelphia Quakers), bottom right card with purple background is Shoeless Joe Jackson (A’s). Above him (card with orange background) is Erskine Mayer (Phillies)….also featured are World Series tickets from 1950 and from 1964 (which never took place as the Phillies collapsed in the final two weeks of the season).

SETTING: The setting is Shibe Park but with elements from different eras. Spectators watch from the rooftops at right (before the erection of the ‘spite fence’). The game is game 2 of the 1950 World Series, with Joe DiMaggio at the plate, hitting the home run that won that game. This was the only World Series the Phillies played in that park, during its ‘Connie Mack Stadium” days. The advertisements are classic Philadelphia products Goldenberger’s Peanut Chews and Esslinger Ale.

Perfect decor for Philadelphia baseball fans.

Really a very interesting print and a story everywhere you look. I really am very happy with the print and it looks fantastic in our basement with all of the other Phillies photos, prints and memorabilia. Thank you so much.

Great Print

Gave print to my husband for Father’s Day. He loved it. Print inclusive of all the players (post & Present) and key Phila landmarks. Wish there was a key document that identified all the players especially the more obscure historical ones.
