A Connie Mack Stadium Gift Print

I gave the Connie Mack Stadium Print to a friend as a gift. Because he always admired a different Shibe Park print that I owned with the Philadelphia Athletics on it. My family lived on [****] before the A's moved to Kansas City. Although this print features the 1964 Phillies. He still was quite pleased with his gift. He immediately had it sent out to be framed.

Summer nights on Lehigh Avenue

Forget the Vet, forget Citizens Bank. There was only one true home of the Phillies. Saw my first game at Connie Mack stadium in May, 1957. The Brooklyn Dodgers were in town and it was Don Drysdale against Robin Roberts. What a dream match up. But Roberts was having a truly bad year and the Dodgers took the game 5-0 on back to back homers by Duke Snider and Gino Cimoli. Saw hundreds of games afterwards at the "Mack" where Musial, Rose and Mays were still youthful men and I still can smell the mustard and hot dogs and the smoke of those home town Phillies cigars filling the warm summer nights on Lehigh Avenue. And forget Boston's "green monster". The right field fence at Connie Mack was way more daunting. This amazing print brings it all back, and I'll treasure it for the remainder of my days....Gene Ross
