NFL teams use the entire color wheel when choosing how to represent themselves on the field. The Vikings wear “people eater” purple while the Seahawks choose to being out their inner gin and tonic by wearing fluorescent lime colored uniforms. As fans, choose not to mock these color choices, but instead champion them as different from the constant red, white, and blue color combinations seen in Major League Baseball.
While a number of NFL teams choose to wear different shades of green, namely the Eagles, Jets, Seahawks, and Packers, only one team wears pure teal. The Jacksonville Jaguars wear teal jerseys for home games, a color well suited for the royal animal of the jungle that the team represents. Enter new owner Shad Kahn. After making headlines by going toe for toe with star running back Maurice Jones-Drew over a contract dispute, Kahn continues to make his mark on the franchise from northern Florida. Kahn announced yesterday that the Jaguars would no longer wear teal uniforms for home games. Instead the team will wear black uniforms instead of the classic teal. Recently the Arizona Cardinals wore their alternative black uniforms during a game, making the oftentimes-dull black jerseys (see NY Mets etc…) look good. According to Kahn, “Teal will continue to be a part of our uniform and our logo, but on the field our identity will grow in black jerseys.” The Jags will begin the era of the black jersey on October 9th when they return home to play the Chicago Bears.

Authentically Speaking Trivia Time: In what year was the first Army Navy game played?
Thursday’s answer: Bobby Thompson hit the "show heard round the world" and he did it in 1952 against the Brooklyn Dodgers giving Thompson's NY Giants the NL Pennant. The phrase comes from a Ralph Waldo Emerson poem titled "Concord Hymn" which refers to the American Revolutionary War.
