Richie Ashburn #1 is a unique graphic art design by artist Kirk Timmons.This mixed media drawing features a montage of pen and ink drawings depicting Richie Ashburn within the #1 he wore for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1949-1959. Don Richard "Richie" Ashburn was known by the nickname "Whitey" and was one of the "Wiz Kids" of the NL champion 1950 Phillies. Starting in 1963 Ashburn became a radio and TV color commentator for the Phillies and would become one of the most beloved sport figures in Philadelphia history.The Philadelphia Phillies retired Richie Ashburn's # 1 in 1979 and he was later inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1995.
