One of the most respected artists in the history of hip-hop, Big Daddy Kane burst onto the scene in 1988 with the album Long Live the Kane. His first single, Ain't No Half Steppin' took lyrical wordplay to an entirely new level, and was named One of the 25 Greatest Rap Songs of All Time by Rolling Stone magazine. Not bad for a young man who had not yet turned 20 when it was released.
The next year he released another classic album, Long Live the Kane. That album would feature the hit Smooth Operator. In the 1990s, he introduced the world to his protege, Jay Z. In 2005 he would appear on Dave Chappelle's Block Party, and in recent years he has continued recording and appearing live throughout the world.
MTV, The Source, RZA, and Kool Moe Dee have all ranked him as one of the 10 greatest rappers of all time. We're honored to carry this tribute to one of the greatest MCs to ever grace the stage with this poly/cotton Next Level tee, with artwork by Philly artist Keni Thomas.
